Mueller Museum Launching Public Online Survey for Long-Term Exhibit Planning

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum invites all Central Illinois residents to participate in a public online survey to collect information for long-term planning and updating its permanent exhibit. The survey only takes about 4 minutes to complete. It collects your preferences for:

Guided tours and other museum services or amenities
How much time you like to spend in a museum
What, if anything, prevents you from visiting the Hieronymus Mueller Museum
What topics and hands-on interactives you might like to see in a new exhibit

You’ll also get to see images from the museum’s collection and rate them based on how interesting they are to you. The information will help museum staff and the Board of Directors plan for updating its 2,000 square foot permanent exhibit in the next few years.

“The current exhibit has served the museum well over the past 20 years,” says Museum Director, Katherine Unruh, “but it’s time for a refresh. By completing the online survey, you’ll provide valuable input about what you would like to see at the Hieronymus Mueller Museum.”

“You do not need to be familiar with the Hieronymus Mueller Museum or Mueller Company in order to complete the survey,” says Unruh. “In fact, you’re encouraged to complete the survey even if you’ve never visited the museum before, or if it has been a long time since you visited.”

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum is owned and operated by a private, non-profit organization: the Hieronymus Mueller Family Foundation. It tells the story of Hieronymus Mueller, his family, and the company he founded. Admission to the museum is $2 for adults, $1 for children, and free for all Mueller Company employees and retirees.

The museum is located near downtown Decatur, at 420 W. Eldorado Street, Decatur, IL. To get to the museum from Decatur, go north on Route 51 and turn left onto Eldorado Street/U.S. 36. The museum will be on your right. Plenty of free parking is available.

The Hieronymous Mueller Museum is proud to display numerous exhibits and memorabilia from the Company’s history. We invite you to visit this incredible collection at your earliest convenience.

The museum’s address is 420 West Eldorado Street in Decatur, IL. We’re open to the public on Tuesday through Saturday (except holidays) from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. You can also schedule a visit by calling 217-423-6161. Admission is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for those under 17 years of age.

Admission Increase Starting Nov. 1

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum will be raising the adult admission rate from $2/adult to $3/adult beginning November 1, 2024.

Fire Hydrant Display through February 2025

See the inside of a Mueller fire hydrant in action during a temporary hands-on exhibit at the Hieronymus Mueller Museum in Decatur, IL. The museum is open every Tuesday through Saturday from 1pm to 4pm.

Collections Internship – PAID

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum occasionally offers a paid Collections Internship. There is not an internship opportunity open at this time, but please check back.

Hieronymus Mueller Museum Offering Free Admission to Jumpstart Planning for New Exhibit

Central Illinois residents and visitors are invited to explore the Hieronymus Mueller Museum free of charge this summer! The museum is offering free admission to anyone who completes a short survey about their visit during May, June, and July 2023.

Taste of History

A progressive evening of cocktails and hors d’oeuvres returns!

The Taste of History event returns this year Saturday, October 7 from 5-9pm. During this event, you’ll explore five of Decatur’s history sites while enjoying delicious hors d’oeuves and drinks at each location.
