The Hieronymous Mueller Museum is proud to display numerous exhibits and memorabilia from the Company’s history. We invite you to visit this incredible collection at your earliest convenience.
The museum’s address is 420 West Eldorado Street in Decatur, IL. We’re open to the public on Tuesday through Saturday (except holidays) from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. You can also schedule a visit by calling 217-423-6161. Admission is $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for those under 17 years of age.

The story of Hieronymus Mueller and his interest in automobiles is pretty well known by those of us with an interest in Mueller history. Hieronymus earned a spot in automotive history through this success in America’s first auto race in 1895.
2011 marks the 100th anniversary of Fredericka Bernhardt Mueller’s death on January 26, 1911. The cause of her death is recorded as a cerebral apoplexy which may have meant a number of things but was most likely a stroke.
In the summer of 1911, Decatur newspapers were filled with the buzz of the new state law abolishing the public drinking cup. “The Cup of Death”, would soon be a thing of the past.
The name Hieronymus, in the Latin, means “holy name” or “with a sacred name.”
The Hieronymus Mueller Museum will be raising the adult admission rate from $2/adult to $3/adult beginning November 1, 2024.

The Hieronymus Mueller Museum occasionally offers a paid Collections Internship. There is not an internship opportunity open at this time, but please check back.
All Central Illinois residents are invited to complete a short online survey to help the Hieronymus Mueller Museum with long-term exhibit planning. In the survey, you’ll get to see images from the museum’s collection and rate them based on how interesting they are to you! Complete the survey by Friday, October 13.
Central Illinois residents and visitors are invited to explore the Hieronymus Mueller Museum free of charge this summer! The museum is offering free admission to anyone who completes a short survey about their visit during May, June, and July 2023.
